Before Rare Harvest packages any product, we send it to a cannabis testing lab.
What are we testing our cannabis for? Lots of things.
Firstly, all of our products are grown by Rare Harvest master growers inside our state of the art indoor and green house grow facilities in California.
Beyond that, we ensure every product has a certificate of analysis (COA) to confirm the quality and help customers learn about what they’re buying or enjoying.
We mainly rely on cannabis scientists at a third-party testing laboratory to ensure every product is safe and free of nasty foreign materials like pesticides, heavy metals, or mold.
They also confirm that every Rare Harvest product complies with the 2018 Farm Bill.

Rare Harvest Third-Party Hemp Testing Laboratories
Learn more about a few of the labs we work with to quality control our products and develop educational COAs for users.
ACS Laboratory
We’re proud to test with ACS laboratory, which has earned the most Emerald Test Badge awards nationwide for its cannabis and hemp testing laboratories.

New Bloom Labs
New Bloom Labs is a Tennessee-based lab that’s equipped to test and provide in-depth data on any cannabis-derived product.
They’re experts at heavy metal testing, potency testing, mapping out terpene profiles, and at screening for other unwanted compounds like mold growth, residual solvents, pesticides, or microbes.
Marin Analytics
Check out a Marin Analytics COA
Marin Analytics is a cannabis and hemp-testing facility with state-of-the-art labs and high-end services.
Well equipped at cannabinoid profiling and retesting, the Marin team provides expert analysis on concentrates and other cannabis products for Mood.
Get To Know Your Weed With a Certificate of Analysis (COA)
We include a certificate of analysis (COA) from a third-party cannabinoid testing lab for every product available at Mood’s online dispensary.
You can find the COA halfway down any product page under Product Details and Dosage.
Every COA we provide features a breakdown of cannabinoids present in a product.
To have a look for yourself, check out this COA for our popular Acapulco Gold strain.
You can see its total THC levels and how those break down across specific forms of THC — i.e., THCa, Delta-8 THC, Delta-9 THC, Delta-10 THC, and other cannabinoids.
Each breakdown features a full report on the cannabinoids present, which includes those that fall outside the THC classification — i.e., cannabidiol (CBD), cannabigerol (CBG), and cannabinol (CBN).
FAQs on Rare Harvest Third-Party Testing
Q: How are Rare Harvest products tested for quality and cannabinoid content?
A: Initially, we only use product we grow ourselves with our master farmers who are licensed to grow and manufacture using state-of-the-art methods in Rare Harvest grow facilities in California.
Before packaging products, we send them to a third-party lab to be tested for unwanted materials and cannabinoid content.
Labs test and record informational data on cannabis products — i.e., total THC content, total cannabinoid content, CBD levels, and levels of specific cannabinoids like Delta-9 THC and Delta-9 THC.
Examples of third-party testing practices:
-
High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)
is an analytical chemistry technique that can separate chemical compounds.
-
Gas chromatography (GC)
is an analytical technique designed to measure the potency of cannabis and hemp products.
Q: Wait, what’s the Farm Bill? And how is this legal?
A: In 2018, the Agriculture Improvement Act removed hemp from the federal government’s list of controlled substances.
The legislation defines “hemp” as any cannabis product with less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC by dry weight.
All Rare Harvest products comply with the Farm Bill. By using THCa — a cannabinoid that converts to Delta-9 THC when smoked or vaped — they can also help you feel the same effects as the cannabis you know and love.

Q: Why do I need a COA to buy weed?
A: You don’t need a COA to buy weed. But these certificates do make it easier to find ethically produced, safe, and high-quality products.
But if you care about the products you’re consuming and want to stay safe from unwanted additives or chemical-driven farming practices — a COA can help you achieve that.
While regulations vary and, in many places, are limited around Farm Bill-compliant cannabis products, COAs offer discerning users a path to transparent consumption.
Basically, if you want to get to know your weed at all and have an easier time achieving the feelings you’re looking for, COAs give you all the tools you need to find the right products.
